Fatal Car Accident Still Under Investigation

When a person dies as a result of a car crash, the victim’s family usually wants answers as to how something like this could have happened. If another driver is at fault, the family deserves to know all the facts surrounding their efforts to obtain justice. This could be the case in a recent fatal car accident here in Kentucky that took the life of a man standing next to his vehicle. Police are still working to determine precisely how this happened.

Authorities say that the crash occurred on a recent afternoon on a local highway. A pickup truck heading east allegedly crossed over lanes of the highway and struck a man in the emergency lane on the side of the road. Reports say that the man was at the back of his trailer when he was hit. In spite of the efforts of first responders, the man died at the scene of the collision.

The 18-year-old driver of the truck was injured, though authorities say he is expected to survive. He had to be airlifted to a local hospital for treatment. Police had to shut down traffic for over six hours while they investigated the scene. There is no word on whether they intend to charge the truck driver with any crime. Police also haven’t publicly speculated about potential contributing factors such as intoxicated or distracted driving.

Whether the police end up charging the young man or not, the victim’s family still has other legal options available. They could choose to file a wrongful death civil claim as a means of seeking to hold the other driver responsible for the car accident. When a family does this, it may result in monetary compensation that may help cover expenses related to the crash as well as lost income. An attorney here in Kentucky who has a track record of handling cases of this type can be of great assistance to a family in need.
